Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty or labia reduction is a cosmetic procedure. It is performed to reduce and or re-shape the labia minora (the inner lips of the vagina).

The main reason women choose labiaplasty is to eliminate large labia pain. Uneven or thick labia may cause irritation and pain during physical activities such as yoga, cycling, running and even intercourse.

Women also choose labiaplasty for aesthetic reasons. Appearance, for some, is a big factor with self-esteem. Large labia may also cause some women embarrassment during intimacy or when wearing tight clothing or a bathing suite.

Recent statistics show that approximately 30% of labiaplasty patients had surgery to eliminate pain, 30% did it for purely cosmetic reasons and 40% for both cosmetic and to reduce labia pain.

A common question regarding labiaplasty is, “does labiaplasty improve sex and tighten the vagina?” The answer is yes and no. Labiaplasty may improve sexual intercourse by reducing irritation caused by long or large labia and no, the procedure does not tighten the vagina. Vaginal rejuvenation is the reconstructive procedure which tightens the vagina.

Labiaplasty under local anesthesia is performed under 1 hour and is an outpatient procedure. The cost for labiaplasty starts at $4200, the price may increase depending on case complexity.
